Tuition and Fees

We know it's important to be able to afford a life-changing experience like QERC.
QERC works to keep our costs low, and similar to what you'll pay for a semester at Southern Nazarene University.

General Admission Tuition and Fees

QERC accepts applications from any current university student. These fees are part of your tuition paid to your home university but each university varies in the total amount that you as a student would pay to come to QERC. Please contact your study abroad office on campus to determine exactly what your final cost would be.

Our General Admission Tuition and Fees are estimated as follows. Accepted applicants will be informed of the final costs as soon as they are available.

QERC Travel Fees* $ 1,200
Instructional Fees $ 12,300
SNU General and Health Fee $ 400
QERC Room and Board $ 4,800
QERC Administrative Fee** $ 500
TOTAL*** $ 19,200

*These fees cover a round trip flight from the group departure city of Houston to San Jose, travel within Costa Rica, and materials needed for research.  The international travel arrangements will be made for students by QERC program staff.  Any exceptions to flights and departure/arrival times may be at an additional cost for the ticket, hotel and Costa Rican travel.  The student is responsible for arranging flights from their home airport to Houston.

**Your home university may have additional fees

Deposits

For all accepted applicants, a deposit of $1,000 is due within one week of acceptance into the QERC semester program.  If the deposit is not paid within one week, the student will not be enrolled into the QERC program.  The check should be made out to QERC and mailed to the address below.  This check is only used as insurance for SNU in purchasing your plane ticket.  Should you drop out of the program before leaving for Costa Rica in January 2018, the check will be deposited by SNU. Otherwise, if you participate in the spring program, the check will not be cashed and it will be summarily shredded.
